Gene Autry Root Beer (not to be confused with Jane Austin’s Orange Soda) is a typical root beer… except it’s made in the USA! Oh, and Gene Autry was some famous cowboy performer back in the good ol’ days when root beer was good, so it makes sense that they’d make a root beer based on him.
Sadly, this root beer doesn’t do a great job at providing a legacy for such a pioneer (neither does modern country music, yeesh). It’s incredibly tasteless. Almost as tasteless as naming a root beer after a dead man. Nothing on his Wikipedia page says he made a root beer and neither does his website, so I’m chalking this one up to an estate decision made by one of his fake cousins who claimed to be related to him for money. That’s capitalism for you. Like I said last review, too many root beers try to make a root beer that excels in everything and ends up with nothing. This root beer didn’t even try at all. It’s the equivalent of the high school student that got all Ds and did nothing extracurricular. Except it’s a root beer.
I’m outraged! Comparing cowboy root beer to Jane Austin’s Orange Soda is the height of inappropriate behavior.
